New Theed

I drew inspiration from Theed, the capital of planet Naboo. I wanted to build a colder city in a more autumn-like environment, with mixed architecture styles and lots of domes.
The scene was assembled in Clarisse iFX, which is capable of handling huge amounts of geometry. The models were prepared, UV unwrapped and exported from Blender. Both UV and triplanar projection were used to texture models, depending on the case. The thick fog layer at the bottom of the valley was made with Houdini and exported as a VDB. As for the mountains, I created the heightmaps for each of them in Gaea, and converted them to 3D meshes either in Blender or in Houdini (heightfield to mesh). Each mountain has between 16 and 65 million polygons.

Geometry count: 644,442.
Poly count: 231.998 billion.
